Membership at Mount Olive Baptist Church of Mauvilla is open to anyone who profess faith in Jesus Christ alone and are in agreement with the church's beliefs. We invite you to take a moment to review some of those beliefs, which are rooted in the Holy Scriptures.
We believe that there is only One God, and he is infinite, sovereign, all powerful, all knowing, and all present. The One God is the maker and supreme ruler of both heaven and earth. The scriptures declare him as being awesomely glorious in his holiness, and worthy of all praise, glory, and honor. He is also declared to be loving God and Father with great concern for His people. The Scriptures further reveal the divine unity of Godhead (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) as being equal in perfection, distinct in roles, and yet harmonious in the great work of redemption.
God created man in His image and after His likeness as the Scriptures said. However, man willfully disobeyed God's command, thus in doing so, man transgressed against God. Subsequently, man fell from his holy state and became a lost sinner. Being utterly voided of God's holiness, man, by nature, is inclined to do evil. Therefore, by choice, man is destined to eternal condemnation and ruin without any defense or excuse.
The word salvation means preservation or deliverance. Preservation means to protect from injury or peril; to keep or maintain. Deliverance means to set free. God brought salvation to the world in the person of His son Jesus. Therefore, through faith in the finished work of Him, salvation is obtained. "For by grace are you saved through faith, and not of yourselves, but it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8). God has preserved (saved) man by delivering him from sin and its penalty (death). "For without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin" (Hebrews 9:22). man is now protected and kept from sin's injuries and perils because of the finished work of Christ Jesus. It is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ that man is made free; and whom the Son makes free, is free indeed!
Baptism is a ceremony that is symbolic to the spiritual rebirth (death, burial, and resurrection) of the believer marked by the use of water. As a result, the believer can live as one dead to sin, but alive to God. According to new testament teachings, the church is made up of a body of baptized believers. the church is made up of individuals who have openly professed their faith in Jesus Christ by baptism. Thus, the individuals have entered fellowship with other believers in Christ.
The Apostle Paul penned, "For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by the Spirit we were all baptized into one body." (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
The Trinity ("God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit") serves as the bedrock of our salvation. Without knowing and having each Person of the Trinity saturated in our belief, our regeneration, salvation, justification, sanctification, resurrection, and glorification will be incomplete.
Basic Concept of the Trinity
Although the word "Trinity" does not exist in the bible, the concept is clearly distinguished.
